Pilu bila saya membaca berita kematian anggota keselamatan kita di Lahad Datu. Tak boleh saya bayangkan perasaan isteri dan anak-anak mereka yang masih kecil bila mendapat perkhabaran sedih ini. Al-Fatihah buat wira-wira kita di sana dan takziah buat keluarga mereka. Mungkin Sultan Sulu boleh berpuas hati sekarang dan menikmati habuan dari sifat tamak halobanya. Bukan sahaja jiwa anggota keselamatan negara sahaja melayang malahan lebih 10 umat Islam yang keliru dan menyokong membuta tuli pun turut mati sia-sia. (more…)

Lahad Datu Stand-Off

Hopes were raised today that the Lahad Datu conflict can be settled amicably and no blood will be spilled as the armed Sulu group are showing signs that they will leave Lahad Datu peacefully. A Philippines ship is expected about noon Monday to help evacuate the civilians and five women in the group of about 180, thus giving Malaysians, especially Sabahans in this country a huge sigh of relief. There are fears that the standoff could turn into unwanted battle and with many Sulu descendants residing in many parts of Sabah, a gun fight with this Sulu group is the last thing the government wants. Sure, we do have the strength of our army and police force and we surely can defeat this group easily in a combat battle, but the aftermath of the gun fight can turn into ugly conflicts all around Sabah as Sulu people in Sabah might retaliate and more Sulu army will come from Philippines.
