Who is the most popular and beloved club in the world? No prize for getting it right though, it is without shadow of a doubt – Manchester United. According to Sky Sports, Manchester United has released research which claims that nearly one person in 10 across the globe supports the Red Devils.
The survey, conducted on behalf of the club, said they have an estimated 659 million followers worldwide – nearly a 10th of the seven billion global populations. The research also shows that Manchester United have doubled their number of worldwide fans over the last five years.
Their nearest rivals are Barcelona but United enjoy twice the support in Asia, seen as the key market for the future, as the Catalan giants according to the survey. The latest findings show that United’s stronghold is Asia, with 325 million fans, followed by Africa and the Middle East with 173 million. So, little wonder that Japanese superstar, Shinji Kagawa set to move to Old Trafford this summer. Glory Glory Man Utd!
