While on the road, especially at the end of the day, I’d appreciate the deejays not playing songs that could lull me to sleep. I’m aware that even rock ballads can be hazardous to a tired driver, and broadway is a definite no for a ‘rock kapak’ guy like me. You can say that I’m allergic to broadway musicals and classical music (except ‘Hungarian Rhapsody’ by Queen - hehehe) which are favourites of my wife. The only consolation is I get to make fun of her choice while she makes me listen to them (‘to broaden my mind’ was her excuse) and so our pleasant arguments prevents me from dozing off while on the wheels.

But if I were to choose my songs while on the road, I would pick up-beat dance tempos. Not the repetitious disco remix, etc, but well, the interesting tunes. They are not of Adele‘s standard – they are of their own. So let’s not argue about quality, just what sounds good during a particular time and environment.

So, though I’m not a fan of Will.i.am nor Britney Spears but their collaboration in ‘Scream and Shout’ has grabbed my attention. It’s not bad, really, and I actually notice it when my four year old keep singing the song and dancing to its tune. “Scream and Shout” has that “happy feeling” and catchy beat that is enjoyable to listen to especially when caught in a heavy traffic after a hard-days’ work. The lyrics aside, it’s fun to see a 4 year-old jumping to the song.

Actually, when I first heard the song on HotFm, I though the lady artist was J Lo. J Lo has a few ‘wake-up’ tunes as well, such as ‘On the Floor’ feat Pitbull. These kind of similar songs can be confusing, that even though they keep repeating Britney’s name, I still missed the point.

While we’re on the dance track, I’d also recommend listening to ‘Back In Time’ by Pitbull. Those who used to listen to the 50s and 60s music would surely remember the line ‘Baby, ooh Baby, My Sweet Baby, You’re the One’ verse from Mickey & Sylvia‘s ‘Love Is Strange‘ and the unique retro guitar solo. The song was originally released as the lead single from the soundtrack of sci-fi film sequel, Men in Black 3. Listen to it and you’ll know what I mean.

Another interesting and kinda funny ha-ha song is ‘I’m Sexy and I Know It’ by LMFAO. As I said, the lyrics aside (which I believe the radio deejays and stations has properly checked and approved), these songs really help drivers feel refreshed.:

The look in Ryan Giggs’ face says it all. It won’t be the same without Fergie. After all, most Manchester United players only know Sir Alex as their manager. The Red Devils haven’t change their manager since Bryan Robson was the captain of England. It’s been 27 years, 1,500 games in charge and 13 English titles to show. At one point, we thought that Sir Alex Ferguson will never leave Manchester United. He looks healthy, determined as ever and he has managed to build a new generation of championship-winning team at Old Trafford. Then, came the moment the fans dreaded the most. After guiding the club to a record 20th English league title, the Gaffer decided the time is right for him to go. Well, we should have anticipated that. Sir Alex has always wanted to bow out in style. He did just that and there’s nothing more appropriate for the fans to do expect applaud and thank him for those wonderful years.

As he readies to bid farewell to the fans together with one of his most trusted lieutenant, Paul Scholes, we were treated with one last ‘Fergie Time’ at The Hawthorns yesterday. A fitting farewell party as United started the game with their traditional attacking game and were up 5 – 2 at one time. West Brom managed to pull back and spoiled the party with a 5 – 5 draw. But, you can’t really blame the players for letting ‘The Baggies’ hit back, as time ran out, the emotional prospect of losing one of the greatest manager in the world must have played in their mind. Ah! Never mind the result. The fans and players gave Sir Alex a rousing applause and thanked him for everything he did for the club. It will be strange to see Manchester United next season without Sir Alex.

And as he walks down the tunnel for the last time, it is hard to believe we will never see him in the dugout again. Thank you Sir Alex and have a happy retirement.
