Ant-Man is the latest movie from the Marvel universe family. Released in Malaysia last week, it immediately received rave reviews from most viewers. I watched Ant-Man with the whole family a few nights ago and it was terrific!
Admittedly, I was a bit sceptical of Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, but boy was I happy to be wrong!
The ensemble is perfect and really charming, and a special mention to the surprisingly hilarious Michael Pena as Luis.
Ant-Man is fun, light and entertaining, quite unlike Age of Ultron, and I believe it is just what we need in our present gloomy or stressful economic, social and political situation.
Despite opinions to the contrary, I think that so far, I’ve been quite lucky in my movie choices this year – Kingsman : The Secret Service, Avengers : Age of Ultron, Mad Max: Fury Road and Ant-Man. Marvel movies are a must-see for the whole family.
All worth my ringgit and time – I just wished there were no GST charges…. 😀
Unlike the other Marvel superheroes, Ant-Man is a divorcee, a father and an ex-convict who previously did time for an ‘impossible’ burglary – so, he has all the reasons to be humble. However his agility and skill, coupled with the super-suit technology provided by Hank Pym, plus the help from the rest of the team have all made the impossible task, possible.
This is a story of teamwork among ‘normal’ people. And lots of laughter along the journey.
Among the cast of characters are Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Correy Stoll, Michael Pena, etc. As usual, the appearance of Stan Lee (the creator of Marvel Universe and screenwriter of Ant-Man) is highly anticipated. And we didn’t budge from our seats until we watched the ‘extras’ somewhere in the middle of the credit roll.
Do watch it with your family and friends – have a delightful time!
