I got the Starbucks Planner 2018! We have blogged about the Starbucks Malaysia Planners a couple of times in the past, sharing some precautionary measures against disappointment and tips to get the Starbucks Planner. We also wrote about our Starbucks Planners 2013 which I must confess are very durable and lasted for years.
This year, I had the opportunity to grab the Malaysian Starbucks 2018 Planner.
How to redeem?
In order to be eligible to redeem the Malaysian Starbucks Planner 2018, you need to:
- get a Starbucks card;
- register with Starbucks; and
- purchase 15 Grande beverages.
Registration will ensure that there’ll be a record of your purchases and you can also enjoy many other benefits. It is very easy – the barista will be happy to help you.
In other countries such as Korea and The Philippines, they collect stamps or stickers. Here, it’s based on our online record. Just purchase 15 Grande (3 of which must be promotional beverages) and you’re ready to redeem. However, purchase of Espresso Solo/ConPanna/Steamed Milk are not counted for the reward.
As usual, when Starbucks Malaysia announced in its FB Page about the Starbucks Planner 2018, I automatically started to strategise. I made sure that my next purchase would be a Grande Promotional Beverage, so that the reward would be activated. Please read our post on why you should do this.
Although I did not intend to get the Planner for myself, I thought that as long as I was doing my work or hang out at Starbucks and buying their beverage, I might as well not waste the chance. The promotional beverage is about RM2 more expensive than the usual Frappuccino, but I didn’t mind. Why? Because I had Starbucks card worth RM150 to spend, courtesy of my efforts at Global Test Market. Answering surveys can be an enjoyable experience!
Why do I go to Starbucks?
Some may wonder why I prefer to sit or hang out at Starbucks. It’s not about the ‘status’ factor – I am definitely not a socially-conscious person. I don’t yearn for city life or branded items (but I love good quality stuff that are not overpriced – who doesn’t?). I am a person who appreciate the country side and greenery.
I guess I prefer to sit at Starbucks because of the comfortable sofas, the many power sockets, the tables for my laptop, the free wi-fi (2 hours), the friendly barista, the attached washroom (at select outlets), the environment, and most important of all – I could sit there for as long as I like and nobody would make me feel uncomfortable. Then, there’s the free beverage after 10 purchases and the free slice of cake on my birthday month. Occasionally, there is also special offer for a set of pastry and beverage. And sometimes, we get ‘buy one free one’ promos, etc.
My thoughts on Starbucks Planner 2018
What do I think of Starbucks Planner 2018? It’s not for me, honestly. I like my Planner to be functional, with lots of lines for my To-Do Lists and my thousands of words. And I already bought myself a planner since November last year. So, this will go to a wonderful person whom I know will make good use of it, certainly someone more creative than I.
My wish for future Malaysia Starbucks Planner
As always, I hope that the Planner for the following year will be not only stylish but also functional to many. I am hoping for a Planner that:
- is not too bulky nor heavy – I want to be able to fit it in my handbag. I like the elegant design of 2016 Planner.
- has discount coupons inside, like the 2011 Planner. Come on Berjaya Starbucks, I’m sure you can afford it!
- has a stylishly embossed or metal Starbucks bookmark, bigger than the tiny one in 2015 Planner, but it’s a good idea for a start.
- has an intricate and distinctive front cover design that symbolizes something important, other than the usual mermaid symbol.
- includes little things such as special Starbucks pen, card, etc. For awesome ideas, look at Starbucks Philippines superb Planners (2018, 2015, etc).
