Well … this is not a complaint against Starbucks Malaysia, per se, actually. More of an update to our post about the new Starbucks Malaysia Rewards.
As mentioned in the article, upon reaching 200 Stars, you can redeem your preferred Rewards, either your favourite Grande beverage or selected Food. However, 3 days ago, Starbucks have informed that the complimentary redemption will be revised.
So, starting from 9th November 2021, we need to accumulate at least 300 Stars before we can utilise the rewards. Which translates to spending about RM300 (less if you buy during special promo).
Too bad, a long way to go. Or better latte than never….?
Between 1 Star to 300 Star, there’s a probability that one might lose focus, interest or hope. Long-time customers’ trustmay have been adversely affected. The point is, anything can happen if a business can’t sustain its customers’ interests.
I guess the “200 Stars” is too good to stay. Too generous for a business. Hopefully, Starbucks would consider introducing a tiered reward system such as:
- 150 Stars – Donut or Americano
- 200 Stars – Cake or any Grande Handcrafted Beverage
- 300 Stars – Merchandise
And so forth. Let the customer decide whether they want a cookie now or 3 cookies later.
A Darker Blend, Please
On another matter, I do wonder whether the barely legible receipts at Starbucks outlets is a business strategy or an honest lapse of operational efficiency.
Frankly speaking, I only keep the receipts for scribbling notes at the back. However, some customers love using the wi-fi code. Just my two cents, because I care.
Starbucks Malaysia Planner
Now, let’s talk about the much anticipated annual Starbucks Planner. Does anyone have any idea how the 2022 edition will look like? As we wrote many years ago, we greatly admire Starbucks Philippines’ planners. And we did share our thoughts and ideas as to our preferred planners as well.
This is the Starbucks Malaysia 2021 Edition planner, released end of last year.
Nice, but nothing more than a notebook, in my opinion. So I asked my daughter to make it more fun.
I have yet to use it. Perhaps next year, for meeting notes. I find it too much of a hassle to take it out of the cover. And a tad heavy. The added zippered compartment is a nice touch, though.
So, if anyone from the big Berjaya Starbucks Coffee Company Sdn Bhd is reading this – please, please, put more efforts into your Planners! Work with local talents, preferably. Engage with your amazingly local fans. There are ideas aplenty, I’m sure.
