Those who have been to Indonesia will probably agree with me on this – the dishes there are delicious! How can I ever forget Nasi Padang and Ikan Bakar Pangandaran?
I thought the ‘ikan bakar’ is probably one of the best food I have ever eaten in this world and I’m not even 40 yet.
Well, there are many restaurants here in KK selling Indonesia cuisine these days. However, there’s something missing in the ingredient. The taste is just not the same. The same goes with Mee Bandung Muar and Laksa Penang.
They just can’t beat the original recipes.
In the case of Mee Bandung, I will say – not even close.
Nasi Ayam Penyet
One Indonesian dish that I really enjoy and am sure many people here like is Nasi Ayam Penyet. The best is probably at Alamesra at a restaurant called Restoran Daun Pisang or something like that.
I normally eat it with my friends after futsal as my wife, well, she’s not into Indonesian food. I wonder why? Nasi Ayam Penyet @ Alamesra is quite hot and spicy. If you don’t like spicy food, then the food is not recommended for you.
They also serve Ikan Keli Penyet which is not bad and you can also ask them to mix both if you can’t decide between fish and chicken.
One thing about Nasi Ayam Penyet is it reminds me of the fried chicken my late grandmother used to cook for me when I was a little boy. It has that curry and herb flavour and when you eat it with rice and spicy sauce, added with tempe, ohhh.. that is so good!
