What Is A Beauty Box?

A beauty box is a box which contains beauty products (usually in sample/deluxe/travel sizes) such as bodycare, skincare, haircare, make-up, etc.  I love beauty boxes because of the affordable price and the delightful surprise element – you don’t know what you get until you open up the box.

You can buy a beauty box or subscribe to it and get your surprise at a pre-determined schedule such as monthly, bi-monthly, etc.

The purpose of a beauty box is to give us the chance to indulge by trying-out sample sizes of beauty products at an affordable price before we decide to purchase the full-sized version.

Beauty boxes subscription rates range from RM9 to about RM58.    There are not many beauty boxes offered in the local online stores today, some that were here last year such as WonderBox and CosmoBox are not active anymore.

Among the popular existing ones (in no particular order) are:

The Lilac Box are committed to ensuring all their beauty boxes are of a minimum standard, with a great selection of products from different premium brands such as Bobbi Brown, Clarins, Crabtree & Evelyn, H2O, Jimmy Choo, Van Cleefs & Arpels, etc, at only RM49.90.  You can refer to their Facebook page for latest updates.

Unfortunately, The Lilac Box doesn’t ship outside Peninsular Malaysia. :C

Bag of Love

Bag of Love

Bag of Love – With a bi-monthly subscription of RM39.90 (RM8 delivery charge to East Malaysia), you’ll get a beautiful bag (a real adorable bag that you can reuse for years) filled with 5 beauty products of varying sizes – ranging from hair care to skincare, body care, make up, nails and fragrances – delivered to your doorstep monthly so you get to sample the products before buying it.  Bag of Love also offer exciting special bags  on occasion.

Have a look at their Facebook page  for clues about their beauty box and other news.

ModBox  – At only RM9, it’ the most affordable beauty box in Malaysia.   The delivery charges are RM6 (Peninsular Malaysia) and RM9 (East Malaysia).   You get to choose 3 products (out of 6) and are sometimes also offered to purchase an optional item at a special price.

All the items in the ModBox are also available in the Modshop, their online store where you can also purchase other full-size products from their Brand Partners.

Mivva – At RM38, you will receive a curated box of deluxe beauty miniatures personalized to suit your specific needs and wants, lovingly packed in a luxurious box.  The beauty products include samples of skin care, make up, body & hair care, fragrance, nails products – and sometimes they may even throw in a little (or full-sized) fun surprises!

Fashion Culture

Fashion Culture  – Not the usual beauty box, but a fashion box.  At just RM58 a month, you will receive a box full of fashion accessories and beauty products. The style of the fashion accessories will be tailored according to your taste based on the theme you chose.  You are offered three exciting themes of style to choose from.  Subscription opens every first week of the month and closes on the last week.

Your fashion box will be delivered to your preferred address between 7-14 days after the subscription has closed for that month‘s theme.

So, as you can see, there are many options available for you to try-out beauty products without breaking your budget and without the need to ask for samples at the beauty counters.  And best of all, sometimes, there are also products for men!  In case you’re wondering what to do with the products that you don’t like or doesn’t suit your need, I suggest you turn it into a gift for friends and family – I’m sure they’ll appreciate it!
