Hennessey Venom GT

The Hennessey Venom GT set a World Record for reaching 300 kph (186 mph) in 13.63 seconds, improving the Swedish-made Koenigsegg Agera R’s record by almost a full second (See above video). The record was set at Ellington Airport in Texas, southeast of Houston.

The record is for Fastest Production Car from 0 – 300 km/h (Source: World Record Academy).

The Venom GT is powered by a mid-mounted twin-turbo 1244-hp 7.0-liter small-block Chevrolet V-8 combined with a claimed curb weight of just 2743 pounds, which gives the supercar a power-to-weight ratio of 2.2 pounds per horsepower. “We are exceptionally proud of our team at HPE who helped to make this new World Record possible,” said company founder and president John Hennessey. He says that the company only plans to produce 29 Venom GTs at a cost of $1.2 million each.

Each vehicle is custom built and takes about six months to complete.

The Guinness world record for the fastest production car is the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, which achieved a two-way timed speed of 431.072 km/h (267.86 mph) at the Volkswagen proving grounds in Ehra-Lessien near Wolfsburg, Germany.

An attempt to get rid a second from Koenigsegg takes 5 years to achieve. Good effort from the team!
