Manchester United have unveiled their 2014-2015 home kit today with new sponsor, Chevrolet having their logo stamped in front of the famous red’s jersey. The collarless shirt was designed by Nike, and it features white on the sleeves and a hint of black with the words ‘youth, courage and greatness‘ embossed on the neck of the shirt. Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and other United’s stars will wear the new jersey for the first time later this month when they take on LA Galaxy as part of their per-season tour of America.
Personally, I don’t like the Chevrolet logo. I always thought it is ‘ugly’! Nonetheless a diehard Manchester United’s fans like me will be happy to buy the new kit and wear it everywhere I go. Plus, we have to be thankful to Chevrolet for investing a lot of money in this club, so that we can spend more and bring top quality players like Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw. 😀 However, those handling the branding side at Chevrolet, here’s some advice: “dude, please do something about the logo”.
Another important thing to note is this kit might be the last one designed by Nike for Manchester United. The American sportswear company has been supplying United’s shirts since 2002 but the current agreement expires next year. They are not expected to renew the agreement as German Sportswear Company Adidas is poised to take over. Adidas is confident that they can replace Nike with a lucrative offer. Well, that is good news and shows that despite our poor 2013-14 season, we still managed to attract many investors to Old Trafford.
I’m really looking forward to the new season with Louis van Gaal in charge. I had a good feeling that the coming season will be one of the best. But first, let’s head to the MUFC store* and grab the new jersey while stock lasts. Glory Glory Man Utd!
